The Housing Options Service provides a service to those in housing need. An assessment service is offered to homeless people and temporary accommodation is provided when applicable. General housing advice is available to residents and private tenants. The City Council’s housing register and tenant transfer list is also maintained by this service.
This programme has been set up to support mothers with children at Quintin Kynaston School. In conjunction with the school, the project seeks to befriend and mentor Muslim mothers who are often isolated and unable to help their children with school work. Through workshops and cultural activities, Muslim mothers will gain a better understanding of social structures and systems which will help them to participate more fully in their community as well as family life.

Meetings are held three times a year and attendees have the opportunity to ask council officers questions on the issues that are of particular concern to them. The Council services represented cover Parking, Onoe Stop Setrvice, Benefits, Housing, Environment, Planning, Transport and Community Protection. Four workshops or consultation groups are held and attendees can participate in two workshops. There are many oppotunities to speak to council officers throughout the evening including the Questions and Answers sessions after the workshops and whilst having refreshment. How green are you? Recycling prevents scarce resources being wasted and allows them to be reprocessed into useful items. Westminster City Council has made it easy for you to recycle household items. You will have access to either a doorstep service or large communal recycling bins. Blue recycling bags are available from your Estate Office or from the Council. Many items can be recycled and the list includes tins, newspapers, cardboard and computer paper. If you live in temporary accommodation you can have your say in the way the services you receive evolves by joining the Service Imaporvement Group. The meetings are held four times a year and issures that you are passionate about can be discussed. The meeting is usually timetabled but you will have the chance to air your views and get your questions answered about your housing situation. To become involved you must be a customer of the Housing Options Service.

St Paul's is both a church and a community centre that provides space for groups within the local community as well as employing a development worker. Newpin now based in Luton Street, was founded at the Centre in 2000. The Church has links with Christ Church Bentinck junior school, has extended its ties with local community groups and continues to be an oasis for people in crisis. St Paul's Church hosts a range of activities that include a drugs drop-in service, Alcoholics Anonymous and a project for families in temporary accommodation. The North Westminster Drug and Alcohol Service (NWDAS) is a local community project that offers a free and confidential service to residents of Westminster and their families who are affected by drug and alcohol problems. We provide a range of support services from our base at 474 Harrow Road, including drop in and advice, counseling, group therapy, needle exchange and harm reduction services, substitute prescribing, support for families and carers, legal advice, criminal justice engagement, support with employment, training and education, access to mutual aid groups, alternative therapies, support with accessing to residential detox and rehab services and much more.
