Barnardos run this project and it is part advice session, part meeting place. Nursery places are allocated according to Westminster City Council's school criteria. There are 60 nursery places, 20 full-time and 40 part-time. Nursery places are normally allocated to children of families who have either a social need or medical need. Places are normally free but a charge is applied if used outside of the normal school year.

This programme has been set up to support mothers with children at Quintin Kynaston School. In conjunction with the school, the project seeks to befriend and mentor Muslim mothers who are often isolated and unable to help their children with school work. Through workshops and cultural activities, Muslim mothers will gain a better understanding of social structures and systems which will help them to participate more fully in their community as well as family life.

A multi-disciplinary team of family and other therapists, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists provide a variety of counselling services for families, children and adults.
Church Street ward is covered by the Marylebone Area Forum. Meetings are held three times a year and attendees have the opportunity to ask council officers questions on the issues that are of particular concern to them. The Council services represented cover Parking, Onoe Stop Setrvice, Benefits, Housing, Environment, Planning, Transport and Community Protection. Four workshops or consultation groups are held and attendees can participate in two workshops. There are many oppotunities to speak to council officers throughout the evening including the Questions and Answers sessions after the workshops and whilst having refreshment. The meetings are diverse and everyone who has concerns about their community is invited to attend.

Westminster Adult Education Service provides a variety of courses at the Portman Early Childhood Centre. The classes include English language classes, computer courses for beginners and other vocational courses. Crèche facilities are provided for parents participating on the courses and must be booked in advance. The Centre has a settling-in policy to ensure that both parent and child get the most from the experience.

The North Westminster Drug and Alcohol Service (NWDAS) is a local community project that offers a free and confidential service to residents of Westminster and their families who are affected by drug and alcohol problems. We provide a range of support services from our base at 474 Harrow Road, including drop in and advice, counseling, group therapy, needle exchange and harm reduction services, substitute prescribing, support for families and carers, legal advice, criminal justice engagement, support with employment, training and education, access to mutual aid groups, alternative therapies, support with accessing to residential detox and rehab services and much more. We also offer Alcohol Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) groups at various times (call us for details).
